Sherri Brown

Director

Sherri has lived in LaGrange since 1996. She grew up in the Chicago area, then moved to Texas where she graduated from Baylor University. She came to Georgia to begin her first career as a writer for both magazines and newspapers, including 12 years as a reporter for LaGrange Daily News. She has also been involved in community volunteer work, helping to bring a national housing-rehab program to Troup County and directing WinShape Camp for Communities in LaGrange. She is married to Greg and they have three daughters.

Sherri is available to speak to your group about Circles and/or about poverty. She is a certified trainer for Bridges Out of Poverty and also leads poverty simulations for businesses, civic groups and churches. Contact Sherri at sbrown@troupco.org or at 706-883-1687.

 

 

Holly Roberts 

Circles Coach, LaGrange

Strengths: Adaptability• Positivity • Connectedness • Woo • Harmony

Holly has lived in LaGrange since 2014. She grew up in Tennessee and graduated from the University of Memphis with a master’s degree in audiology and speech-language pathology. She moved to Georgia in 1996 and served as a volunteer in her communities and churches. She has volunteered with the Smart Kids Smart Lunch program and has worked with Circles of Troup County since June 2015. She teaches Circles classes and job readiness training and also works one-on-one with Circles Leaders and Allies.
She is married to Adam and they have three sons.

Circles Coach, West Point

Nneka has worked for 20 years in youth and community development, helping youth and families
recognize and use their gifts to make a difference. She served 9 years as an executive director for the Boys & Girls Club of Me
tro Atlanta, managed one of four City of Atlanta’s Centers of Hope, an initiative of Mayor Kasim Reed and also organized and chaired the Community Gang Task Force, designing programs geared towards reforming female gang members. Nneka currently is coordinator for the Center for Calling and Career at Point University while also working for Circles. She has a bachelor’s degree in organizational communications from Wilberforce University and a MBA from University of Phoenix.

Mary Ellen Taylor

Volunteer and Curriculum Specialist

Mary Ellen Taylor is a VISTA, working with Circles to develop the children’s weekly programs as well as a volunteer management system. Mary Ellen is a retired teacher, having taught in many Troup County elementary schools. She is married to Zachary and has two children.

AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service to America) members make a full-time, year-long commitment to serve a specific nonprofit organization or public agency that helps bring individuals and communities out of poverty.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lauren Venters

Development Specialist

Lauren is a VISTA, working with Circles to develop a sustainable fundraising program. She is a senior at LaGrange College who expects to begin graduate school this summer.
